TRAINEE TV CAPTIONER  - SYDNEY 

CSI are seeking applicants to undertake training to become an offline TV captioner.

The position requires touch typing of 65wpm, excellent spelling and grammar skills, a proficient use of Windows programs, demonstrated research skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines. A sound general knowledge of the local and international TV industry and current affairs will be highly regarded.

The commencement salary is $30,000 and a structured training program is provided allowing for progression and increased remuneration at approximately 6 monthly intervals subsequent to appraisal.

The role will involve shift and weekend work.

Our office is located in Surry Hills near Central Station.

Experienced captioners are welcome to apply and will receive a salary commensurate with experience.

CSI CLIENT ABC TV SWEEPS THE BOARD AT AUSTRALIA’S CAPTIONING OSCARS!

The 2008 Deafness Forum of Australia Captioning Awards saw CSI’s client ABC TV scoop 4 awards for its captioning service - the most by any broadcaster at the event held on Thursday 28 August at the Rydges World Square Hotel in Sydney.

Highly commended awards were picked up in the categories “Most Consistent use of Captioning” for ABC TV’s Children’s and Education programming and “Free to Air TV Captioning”, with a further two awards coming in the Deafness Forum Members Choice category for ABC’s captions on “Collectors” and “Playschool”.

Representatives of ABC TV attending the event were delighted at the success. Head of Programming, Marena Manzoufas added “congratulations and thanks too must go to our captioners at CSI”.

Malcolm Beech Allen, CSI Operations Manager: “We’re thrilled that our work for ABC TV has been recognised in this way. Our captioners are a very dedicated and hardworking team, so it’s the icing on the cake to have their work praised by the deaf community.”
